Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 14, 2026
At Mentat, one of our main priorities is the privacy of the people who use our service. This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected and recorded by Mentat Ai, LLC ("Mentat", "we", "us", or "our"), how we use it, how we store and protect it, and how long we keep it.
This Privacy Policy applies to the Mentat mobile application (the "App", available on iOS and Android), to our website at https://www.mentat-ai.com/, and to any related services we provide (together, the "Service").
Mentat Ai, LLC is the data controller responsible for the personal information processed through the Service. You can reach us using the contact details at the end of this policy.
If you have additional questions or require more information about our Privacy Policy, do not hesitate to contact us via contact.mentat.ai@gmail.com.
Consent
By using the Service, you consent to this Privacy Policy and agree to its terms.
Information we collect
The personal information that you are asked to provide, and the reasons why you are asked to provide it, are made clear to you at the point we ask for it. We collect the following categories of information:
- Information you provide in the App. This includes the content you choose to share with Mentat as part of using the Service - for example the messages, notes, check-ins, mood entries, and other inputs you create in the App. This content is stored on our servers so we can provide the Service to you across sessions and devices.
- Account and contact information. If you create an account or contact us, we may collect information such as your email address, a user or device identifier, and, where relevant, your name and the contents of any message or attachment you send us.
- Technical and usage information. We may collect information such as device type, operating system, app version, language and region settings, and how you interact with the App, so we can operate, secure, and improve the Service.
We do not ask you for, and we ask that you do not share, more sensitive personal detail than you are comfortable providing. Mentat is a well-being companion and is not a medical or emergency service.
How we use your information
We use the information we collect in various ways, including to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the App and our website
- Deliver the core functionality of the Service, including remembering your conversations and entries so the experience continues across sessions and devices
- Improve, personalize, and expand the Service
- Understand and analyze how you use the Service
- Develop new products, services, features, and functionality
- Communicate with you, including for customer support and to send you information relating to the Service
- Keep the Service secure, and find and prevent fraud and abuse
How Mentat uses AI
Mentat uses artificial intelligence to understand what you share and to generate helpful, personalized responses. To do this, the content you send in the App is processed by trusted third-party AI providers that operate large language models on our behalf.
These providers act as our service providers: they process your content only to generate responses for you, and only under agreements that restrict how they may use it. We do not use your conversations or entries to train AI models, and we require our AI providers not to use your content to train their models.
Mentat is a well-being companion, not a licensed therapist, and its AI-generated responses are for support and information only - they are not medical advice. Please see our Terms of Service for more detail.
How we store and protect your information
Privacy and security are a top priority for us. The information you create in the App is stored on our servers, which are operated by reputable infrastructure providers.
We protect your data using industry-standard safeguards:
- Encryption in transit. Data exchanged between the App and our servers is encrypted using standard transport-layer security (HTTPS/TLS).
- Encryption at rest. The data we store on our servers is encrypted at rest.
- Access controls. Access to stored data is restricted to authorized personnel and systems that need it to operate and support the Service.
While we work hard to protect your information, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we ever become aware of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will act promptly and notify you where required by law.
Data retention
We keep your personal information only for as long as it is needed to provide the Service to you.
- Automatic deletion after inactivity. If your account is inactive for six (6) months, the data associated with it is automatically deleted from our servers.
- Deletion on request. You can ask us to delete your data at any time by contacting our support team (see "How to delete your data" below). We will delete your data promptly after we verify your request.
We may retain a limited amount of information for longer where we are required to do so by law, or where it is necessary to resolve disputes, prevent fraud and abuse, or enforce our agreements. Any such information is kept for no longer than necessary for those purposes.
How to delete your data
You are in control of your data. To request deletion of your account and the data associated with it, use our data deletion request form at https://mentat-ai.com/data-deletion, or contact our support team at any time at contact.mentat.ai@gmail.com. Once we have verified your request, we will delete your data from our servers, except for any limited information we are required to retain by law as described in "Data retention" above.
You can also stop all further collection of information by uninstalling the App. Uninstalling the App does not by itself delete data already stored on our servers - to remove that data, please use the deletion request process above or let your account become inactive so it is deleted automatically.
Service providers
We rely on trusted third-party companies to help us operate the Service - for example cloud hosting and storage providers that run our servers, AI providers that generate responses, and analytics providers that help us understand how the App is used. These providers only process your information on our behalf, under agreements that require them to protect it and use it only for the purposes we specify. We do not sell your personal information.
Payments
Paid subscriptions are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play. Those stores handle your payment and billing information under their own privacy policies - we do not receive or store your full payment card details. We may receive confirmation of your subscription status so we can provide the features you have paid for.
International data transfers
Mentat Ai, LLC and our service providers may store and process your information in countries other than the one in which you live. Data-protection laws in those countries may differ from those in your own. Wherever your information is processed, we take steps to ensure it remains protected in line with this Privacy Policy and applicable law.
Cookies and similar technologies
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies. Cookies are small files placed on your device that help us run the site, remember your preferences (such as your chosen language), understand how the site is used, and measure the performance of our advertising.
You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect how parts of the website work. For advertising cookies specifically, you can also use the opt-out tools described in "Analytics and advertising" below.
Analytics and advertising
We use Umami, a privacy-focused, cookieless analytics service hosted in the European Union, to understand how our website and App are used (for example, which pages are visited and which buttons are clicked). Umami does not use cookies, does not collect personal information, and does not track you across other websites.
We also use Google Ads conversion tracking on our website to measure the effectiveness of our advertising - for example, to understand when a visit results from one of our ads. This feature may set cookies and share limited information with Google. We do not use it to build advertising profiles about you, and we do not sell your personal information.
You can opt out of personalized Google advertising at https://adssettings.google.com, and learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Log files
Like most online services, our servers and hosting providers automatically record standard log information when you access the Service, such as your internet protocol (IP) address, browser or device type, operating system, and the date and time of your request. This information is used to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the Service, and is retained only for as long as needed for those purposes.
CCPA Privacy Rights (Do Not Sell My Personal Information)
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA), California consumers have the right to:
- Know the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about them, and how we use and share it.

- Request that we delete personal information we have collected about them.
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of their personal information.
- Limit the use of any sensitive personal information.
- Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are defined under California law. If you make a request, we will respond within the timeframe required by law. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details below.
Legal bases for processing (EEA and UK users)
If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process your personal information only where we have a valid legal basis to do so. Depending on the situation, our legal bases are:
- Performance of a contract - to provide the Service you have asked for, including storing your entries and conversations so the App works as intended.
- Your consent - for example where you choose to share content with Mentat, or where consent is required for certain cookies or communications. You can withdraw your consent at any time.
- Our legitimate interests - to secure, maintain, and improve the Service and to prevent fraud and abuse, provided these interests are not overridden by your rights and freedoms.
- Legal obligation - where we need to process information to comply with the law.
